Along the way, Karei had indeed been taking in the sights. But not in awe. She was studying the city with curiousity, seeing on if she could judge the place at all. It seemed very pleasant and she decided she liked it. Arai had been securely tied outside and she loosened the girth to his saddle. Kar give him a small carrot as she strucked his neck, whispering something to him sweetly, then followed Darhin into the inn. She was silent while he talked to the man. One brow rose as the man began to laugh and wish her good luck before walking out. ''I take it this steed is rather wild?'' She inquired, sounding very calm. A smile showed on her features as she turned back to Darhin. ''Sounds like a young stallion. What are his main problems?''

Darhin walked back outside, and untied the rope attached to the horse's harness, more out of procedure than anything else. Karei came out with him and took ahold of the reins, as they walked back in he explained the situation. "The lord that brought him in didn't ride him, he held him in with a rope tied around the stallion's neck. It hates having people around it, if anyone goes near it it will lash out at them with its hoofs or teeth. That goes without saying about riding it, it won't let anyone on its back, and we haven't even tried to put a saddle on it." They walked in to the stables and he pointed to a empty stall on the far side, "You can put your horse in there, come meet me inside once your done." He said as he went back into the main hall way of the inn.

Karei nodded in response as he explained. She had delt with similar horses, and it usually took quite some time. Often more than a day, depending on the horse. She let Arai into the stall. Kar pulled off his tack and her bags, resting them on the stall door. She began to rub his back and girth area lightly, loosening his muscles so he would not be sore. ''Alright, Arai. No playfullness with anyway. I'll be back soon.'' She whispered, brushing through his mane before walking out of the stall, locking it, and then heading back to where Darhin was. She had packed a few apples and carts and brought on her vest, the fruits stored in the pockets of her green vest.

Darhin saw her approach, and noticed she carried some food and a vest. "You don't need to worry about the food, the innkeeper provides the food along with the stay. However I suggest you go up to your room and leave all of your possessions there. I'll come with you to show you the right one, afterwards I'll show you the horse you can help me with."

Karei let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head. ''No, these are for the horse. To let him know he will be able to trust me.'' She said with a slight smile. ''I would like to see him now, though. I'm quite eager to meet him.'' Kar added after a moment, her smile growing at the thought.

Darhin laughed, that made sense, "Sure if thats what you want, follow me." He turned back towards the stable she just left. He saw out of the corner of his eye her horse sleeping in its stall. Whatever she did to it really relaxed it. Turning around he went to a stall on the opposite end.
Their arrival didn't come unnoticed.
The stallion, the color of pitch black, with white on its shoulders and a flowwing brown mane. It was a huge horse, big enough for one to mistake it as a war horse, and it had large angry yellow eyes. It snorted and pawed at the ground. As Darhin walked toward it he was just quick enough to jump out of the way before the horse tried to bite him. "See what you can do with him." Darhin scowled, he had planned on helping her with the horse, but it won't let him near it. He would have to tend Karei's horse instead. He turned around to leave, but not without giving her some more fruit and a couple of carrots. "Good Luck," he muttered before he went.

''Careful. Arai likes to nip.'' Karei said, staring at the black stallion steadily. She stopped one of the stable boys when he passed. ''Close the barn doors, then move out of the way.'' She said with a firm tone. Kar waited until the stable was closed off, then slowly walked up to the stall door. As the stallion tried to strike, she wound her arm around and with a loud POP which seemed to echo, smacked him off the muzzle. The stag shied away, kicking at the door, then stopped and stard at her. His firery eyes were wide and his nostrils were flareed, both ears pinned back against his skull, apparently alarmed that she had struck him. ''Come now, you didn't think you would get away with it, would you?'' Kar said, opening the stall door and stepping aside. The stallion hesitated, then bolted out. He tried to see means of escape, but saw none and then turned to face her. ''There. More room to move around. That's better, isn't it?'' She added with a soft smile. Very slowly she began to approach. His ears flickered as he tried to decide whether to run or attack. When his head would turn she would throw up one arm, regaining his attention. As she came closer, nothing happened for a while until she was about a foot away. In a flash the horse had turned, both hooves striking her ribs. Karei fell, but she was up almost instantly and had rebound by kicking his flank. With a squeal the stud jumped back, scrambling to regain his footing. Kar rubbed her ribs gently. ''Not gonna try that again, are you?'' She commented. She reached into her pocket, pulling out a carrot, and moved toward him again. The stud remained still, watching her fearfully. She came closer and extended her hand, carrot resting her palm. At first the stallion shied his head, but he eventually lowered his muzzle o her hand and slowly nipped at the carrot. A smile spread on her lips and she took another step, reaching up with her other hand and lightly touching his cheek. His head shot up and he snorted, but then he lowered his head once more. Kar tried again, now successful. Within seconds she was slowly feeding him, hands brushing against his fur. ''Does he have a name yet?'' She called out to Darhin, looking up.

Darhin was far away stroking Arai's fur. She was right when she said that he liked to bite. However after a swift hit on the snout he didn't try again. He was rubbing the horse with a brush, when he saw what had happened. She had tamed the beast within a matter of moments. However he was worried about that kick she recieved, but it looked like she was alright now. He watched as she began feeding the horse, and then answered her question. "Yes he does, the lord who owns him named him the moment he got the rope around his next, Harind, is its name."

''Harind. A suitable name.'' Karei said with a smile, rubbing the horse's neck still as she fed him. She looked over to the stall where Darhin and Arai were. She saw that Arai had his head turned, trying to nip at the brush, or his hand. ''If you want him to stop, you'll have to bite him back.'' She said with a smirk. Her sea-blue eyes traveled back to Harind, watching as he nibbled at the carot in her hand, then took a large bit of an apple. very slowly she wrapped her arm under his neck, gently whispering to the stallion, and gripped his mane on the other side. Just as slowly she lead him back to the stall, using the food to keep him walking. ''Darhin, you should probably come pet him. He should get used to other people and not just me.''

Darhin nodded, he liked that idea, especially since he didn't feel like bitting Arai. Getting up he walked over to Harind, being careful not to make too much noise as to startle the stallion. It eyed him wearily, as if expecting him to do some sort of trickery. Picking up a fruit, not caring to see what it was, he extended it to the horse who started to eat it hungerily. Smiling seen how tamed it was acting he outstrected his hand to pet it. However upon seeing his hand Harind reared back his head and started neighing angerily. Darhin immediately withdrew his hand and started muttering calming tones.
It was going to be harder then he thought...

Karei popped the stallion in the middle of his chest as he reared and placed her hand at the tip of his poll. Pressing down she was able to get his head lowered. Both her and Harind were still for a moment, then she started to rub his chest softly, murmering to him under her breath. She securely wrapped her arm around his neck, from beneath his throat, and gripped his mane on the other side again. ''Try again. Come up on my side in case he strikes out with his hooves. I have him tightly, so he shouldn't rear again.'' She said calmly, rubbing the steed's neck soothingly.

Darhin nodded, feeling grateful, Karei obviously knew what she was doing. Walking on her side he appraoched Harind and saw that though the beast looked uncontrolled still, it hadn't moved. Being bodl he outstrechted his hand and started to stroke Harind's coat, he did this for a while and saw the horse calm down considerably, he turned to Karei, "Go ahead let go of him, I think he's alright now."

Karei nodded, unable to stop smiling. She let go of the horse's mane, her arm still in place. When nothing happened she slowly pulled her arm down. Her eyes moved from Harind's ears, to his face, and to his shoulders, watching for any sign of aggression. His ears flickered with unsureness, but other than that he seemed calm. She slowly moved to the side, making not a single quick movement.

Darhin continued to pet the horse, amazed that he was doing so he stopped suddenly and Harind looked at him as if asking what he was doing. Turning to Karei he smiled, "You did very good, amazing in fact. You deserve payment for sure." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of coins, "This came from my last week payment, its the exact amount of a one day work." Well it was a bit more then that, but Harind wasn't your average horse. Puting it into the girl's hands he said, "Take this to the counter in the main hall, the person there will show you to your rooms, I have an apointment to make with a friend. I'll come by later though, I work here afterall!" Turning around Darhin went out through the door, he hope he could make it to the Mountains in time to meet up with Cody.

''But I-'' Before she could deny his payment, Darhin had left. She blinked and rubbed the back of her neck, looking at the coins. She pulled thepouch from her tunic and placed them in her pouch before withdrawing the small sack back in her tunic. Karei called a stable boy, asking him to fetch her a rope to make a halter, and then went back to rubbing the stallion. She took the rope, thanking the stable boy, and introduced the item to the steed. Once she had placed it upon his head as a halter, she left his stall and headed back to the inn, grabbing her belongs and giving Arai an apple and a carot before she left.

Darhin had came the next day and had found to his surprise that Karei was gone, he even went up to guest rooms in the inn but couldn't find her. He wasn't sure why he was upset, she said she was only going to stay a day, but still he hoped she would stay longer. He walked back into the stables, and saw that Arai was missing. However Harind was still there, and was sleeping silently. Not wanting to disturb him he went to work tending other horses. After a hour or so he came back to see that Harind was awake. Trying to see if Harind remebered him he walked slowly up to him, revealing both of his hands, and one holding a small fruit. Apparently he did, for the horse was not startled, but instead ate the fruit and lowered his neck for Darhin to pet him. Smiling, glad he managed to befriend the beast he slowly started to rub the horse's neck in a circular motion. Easing the tendons in the neck and calming it down immensely. "You did a great job with my horse." A voice called out to him, Darhin turned around to see the lord, dressed in fine clothing. Looking at the stallion in admiration. "Quite a good job indeed, you deserve payment." "No my Lord. I deserve no such thing. The innkeeper pays me, besides I didn't do most of the work Kar..." Darhin stopped in mid sentence noticing that something bad was about to happen. The lord approached the stallion in a arrogant manner as if he had already tamed the wild being. It snorted in protest and reared up in a rebellious bray when he came forth. Getting angry the Lord punched the horse in the chest. "You stupid beast!"
It was enough to make Harind enraged.
It pawed the ground furiously, foam oozing from its mouth. Its red eyes glared with a fiery passion as with a sounding snap the ropes holding it in place tore off. Jumping over the stall the lord just had enough time to run out of the way before Harind landed nearby. Darhin knew he had to stop this, he reached up and rung his hands around Harind's neck. It startled the animal, making him rush into a full gallop pushing the door open into the streets. Darhin held on with all his might, and just had time to pull himself onto Harind's back. He heard the gasps and the curses of the people in the streets as they got out of the way of the rampaging horse. But Darhin at that time knew there was nothing he could do. Holding onto Harind's neck he watched as the buildings of Calamere faded into a blur as he headed out through the City Gates.

Karei cantered Arai up to the inn and dismounted before he came to a complete stop. It was about two days since the battle in Forai, and Karei was still a bit worn. But she wasn't just here for a friendly visit. Far from it. She needed to tell Darhin something, she felt she had to. the young woman rushed into the inn, stoppin the man she had met here first. ''Pardon me, is D-'' Kar found herself cut off short as the man grinned. ''Hey, you're the girl who tamed that beast! Sorry I doubted ya. We might need you again so stay in touch, huh?'' She groaned slightly and shook her head. ''That won't be a problem. Now, is Darhin here?'' She asked impatiently. The man shook his head. ''Nope, sorry. He disappeared a couple days ago...just after you left I think.'' A heavy sigh escaped Karei at the news. She thanked him and walked outside, standing next to Arai. She began to stroke the horse softly, resting her forehead against his. Well...what now? She wondered to herself.

Qienid walked into the inn, looking around at the foreign furniture and the odd actitecture that the people of the Golden Land used. He had heard from many people that a young man, fitting the description that Gerold had given him, was seen many times coming in and out of this building. It was assumed that he worked here. Wheter this man was Darhin he wasn't sure, he had tracked many leads before, all turning out to be dead ends. Perhaps this will work.
As he walked by he saw a young girl talking to an older gentlemen, from what he caught out of the conversation she was asking for someone. He did not care to listen more and started to head toward the stables.
When he went in there he saw a very interesting site indeed, there was a young lord who was talking to a few stable boys in a very angry manner. From the looks of it he was about to hit something or someone, going over to stop the conflict, (and to investigate) he talked to the lord. And watched as the stable boys huried out of the way.
"Who are you?" He snapped. He looked very angry, and stated talking out loud, more to himself then anyone else, "That rotten, flith of a boy, I should have known he was no good."
This sounded promising, "Who, if it is alright to ask my Lord, are you talking about?" He tried to keep his voice in a curious tone only. Apparently it fooled the man.
"Some peasant boy took off with my horse, just took it and left, parading it through the streets like it was his. If I get him, I will press charges that will keep him locked up in the castle dungeons till he rots to death!!!" He was so caught up that he did not see Qienid step closer to him, his eyes holding with a malious glint.
"What is this lad's name, and pray tell where did he go?" As he said this he silently slipped his hand into his coat pocket. The lord hearing the quesiton furthered his anger even more.
"Oh, he went riding straight out of town, like the devil on hoofs someone told me, however not many saw him though. A pity. Would have made the charges easier to carry out. As for his name, those stable boys just told me, Darhin I believe."
"Thank you, that's all I wanted to hear" Qienid said in a mock pleasant tone, and in a flash took out his dagger and stabbed it into the man's heart, having him collapse against the hearth of the ground. Turning toward the stable door he slipped out into the street and dissappeared from sight completely.
