He had ran for a long time. He was not sure where he was going. From the darkness outside he guessed he was in the Marketplace, though it was so dark out, and at such a late of time that no one was out, and all the shops were closed. Darhin didn't care, sitting down on the ground with his head between his knees.
What made him act so stupid? They were having a great time, he was really enjoying himself, then he had to pull off something like that. He just got to carried away, and he wondered if she would forgive him. For he definitely did not act like a friend should...the worse part he didn't know what had came over him, he just said it. He sighed, he knew he would have to find her and appologize. He didn't like that idea much...but he knew it had to be done.

Kar stopped to catch her breath, now really wishing she had Arai so that she could catch up. damn. How does he run that fast? She wondered, shaking her head. It has to be this dress that's slowing me down. I hate dresses. Next ball I'm going to I'm wearing briches. She scowled as she stood up, walking down the street so that she couldfind him. Optics scanned the area, hoping to find him.
''Darhin?''
She called out, not too loudly to wake anyway, but just loud enough for someone nearby to hear. Kar sighed, gripping the flower tightly and stopped walking after a while. She noticed a figure on the ground nearby and walked over.
''Darhin? Are you ok?''
She asked hesitantly, lightly kneeling next to him and resting a hand on her shoulder. She pierced her lip gently with her canines, waiting for a response of some kind. |

"Karei?" He asked, confused as to why she was here, "How come you aren't at the ball?" He already knew the answer to that though, "You left because I wasn't there didn't you? damn Karei! I didn't want you to do that, you should have stayed and enjoyed yourself. I just ruined things for you." He sighed as he leaned against the wall. Angry at himself, though not at her.

Kar gave him a skeptical look and crossed her arms.
''Right, I'll go back and enjoy myself at a ball I wasn't invited to with a bunch of upper class strangers.''
She retorted, scoffing. She then relaxed some and sighed.
''You didn't ruin things. I was having fun...even in a dress. I told you that if you weren't there that I probably would have spent the whole time at that wall. I'm really sorry.''
Kar watched him curously, wondering why he was angry and if he was angry with her or not. She apologized anyways, and obviously meant it. |

He looked at her in confusion, "What are you sorry about? I'm the one who should be appologizing, not you! What I did back there...I just shouldn't have done it, I shouldn't have said the things I said. I'm really sorry." He looked around, it was very quiet out, no one was around, the majority of people were still fast asleep.

Kar blinked, now her being confused.
''For saying those things?''
She repeated. At the moment Karei wanted to hit him over the head a couple times to see if she could knock sense into him, but refrained.
''Darhin, don't apologize for that. I...I enjoyed it. I'm apologizing because I ruined it.''
She glanced down, nibbling her lip and staring at the flower she still held. I almost forgot about that... She thought, knowing that she was blushing again. |

"Don't appologize. I shouldn't have said anything like that at all. They weren't just simple compliments, I was...well...you know..." He mumbled the last bit...feeling incredible embarassed. What a lousy way to end off a good day. But now that he thought about it, it made sense. He hadn't seen or talk to anyone in six years, and then Karei shows up, and they become good friends...its was only natural to feel this way. But still he shouldn't have said those things. They were friends. Just friends.

Karei shook her head a bit.
''I know...well, I kind of knew. I didn't want to jump to conclusions. And stop telling me to not apologize. For one I already did and I'm not taking it back and for another I should. I knew what you were saying. But for the past few years I have been believing that this just wasn't for. And you kept proving me wrong and I had no idea what to do. But what really got me was that...was how I was reacting and I just got so...flustered. So I just closed up. And I wish I hadn't. So I'm apologizing.''
She let out a soft breath, just realizing that she had barely taken one during her 'speech'. After a second it was as if it just dawned on her what she said and she was now feeling like she had said to much rather than him. Her hand flew up to her mouth and she felt her eyes widen with surprise. Crap, now I'm doing it. This damn dress is going to my head! |

He saw the look on her face, and how embarassed she looked, he looked at her in confusion, "What's wrong?" He asked, not sure why she was acting this way. He put his hands on her shoulders and looked at her in concern, wondering what he did wrong.

"Really, I don't mind, you don't have to be embarrased around me, I was the one that started this mess." He smiled reassuringly, but could tell she was still unsettled when she pulled her hand away from him.

"Yeah, I was enjoying myself to, lets just make a deal that we pretend that what happened in the sitting room never happened. Alright?" He asked, though he did not wait to get an answer, "are you still willing to take up my offer of staying at the Silver Drake? Because if you are I'll be happy to take you there, were pretty close to it right now." He said, knowing that it was only a couple of blocks to the Inn.

"Of course I don't mind. Is Arai already there?" He wasn't sure, he hadn't been back at the Inn for a couple of days. So he wasn't sure if she had already lodge in there yet. He walked silently beside her as they made there way towards the Silver Drake. It was a very short walk and already he saw the building up ahead.
((Want to continue this in the Silver Drake Inn?))
