Her story:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Celeste was once the prominent daughter of a merchant family who tailored some of the finest cloths in the land. Her father was quite rich and had tutors for his two daughters. When she was not quite twelve, a duke from foreign lands admired her great beauty. Because of a special secret that was known through-out their small community, she was soon betrothed to the duke's fourth son. The boy, who had been named Roth, was fifteen, pudgy, and was ugly-spirited. She was forced to move to the duke's lands when she was sixteen to marry Roth, who was now nineteen. He was cruel and abusive upon receiving her. She took the punishments he meted out silently. After all, her father had warned her that she would not be welcome back into his home.
By chance, when she was seventeen, she met the eldest son, Darius, while with the hand-maidens in the forest. He was tall and handsome at the age of twenty-four. Celeste fell desperately in love with this kind, beautiful son and he with her. Doomed to be wed to his brother, Celeste made plans with Darius to escape. Roth found out and killed his brother, whom he'd always envied. As Celeste dressed in her wedding finery, he slammed into her personal room and threw his brother's head at her. Then he began to earnestly punish her for her unfaithfulness.
Her terrible secret was revealed in this horrible, fateful, way. Unbeknownst to Roth, Celeste had received special powers from her maternal grandmother, a known witch, and pressed her hand against his chest. His heart convulsed wildly before slowing to a halt. For a while, Celeste stood over his body, hands pressed to her lips before gathering what clothes she could and escaping down a back route she'd intended to use when running away with Darius. For two long, painful years, she sold off her jewelry in order to create an ever-moving cart of fabrics. Time after time, when her secret was revealed, Celeste ran again.
