Darhin was blushing too, but replied in a firm tone, "Well you should hear it more often, your a wonderful person Karei. Your kind, considerate, and always willing to help others with your herbs and never wanting anything in return." He smiled to reassure her, he was being completely honest. And he wanted her to know that.

Karei smiled softly. ''Thanks, Darhin. I'm really lucky to have a friend like you.'' She replied sincerely. After a quiet moment she glanced down at their hands and felt the heat rise to her cheeks again. ''Um....you're still holding my hand...'' She murmered, barely audible.

He felt his hand bolt as if it were struck by lightening. As he put his hand back on his lap he blushed intensely. He remembered what she had said about him being a good friend, and felt his heart sink, and an overwelming embarassment fill him. He realized that his actions today had been more than just friendly. His blush faded as he turned more pale, and he began to inwardly curse his stupidity. Getting up he muttered, "I...I should leave...its...kind of...uh late and my work...I need to go back and...well, bye Karei." And before she could say anything in the matter he ran out the door and shut it behind him.

Karei furrowed her brows as he spoke. She blinked, watching him, then hurridly stood up. ''Dar-'' She sighed as the door closed and hesitated before walking to the door and opening it. Glancing around she looked to see if he was still near. ''Darhin?'' Kar called out softly, stepping out into the corridor. After a moment when she received no reply she leaned back against the wall and sighed heavily. Her face burried into her hands, the stem of the flower brushing against her jawline. ''I'm such an idiot.'' She murmered to herself, coming from the wall and heading down to the entrance, seeing no reason to stay at the ball now.
