A white-washed building stands at the edge of the town, with big, ornately decorated windows to let in the light and five miniature towers upon the roof. This is Calamere Cultural Center, a place for all of the artistic and poetic members of the site to post there work for others to enjoy. So, if you've written a poem or sketched a picture of your character or any other image you're proud of, let it take pride of place here for others to evaluate and admire.

Darhin walked around, examining the different displays. After both him and Karei stopped at a nearby inn he stumbled onto the Centre by accident. And was now intriqued by the many different displays of poetry. His eyes wandered reading each of the words, who knew there was such talented poets in Calamere?

Karei walked up behind him, chewing at an apple blantly. ''What're you looking at?'' She asked with curiousity, walking closer and then peering over his shoulder at the poetry. Since she couldn't read it didn't mean much to her and she waited quietly for Darhin to answer. ((ooc: eh, I keep forgetting she can't read -_- never mentioned it before so sorrz if its an out-pf-nowhere thing ^^ and if I had her accidently read something before...I can't remember... ))

"It's a poem, written by, uh." He bent over to squints, "A Dasae Gerana, it's quite good, don't you think so?" He asked, when he knew it had been long enough for her to read the entire poem, and was wondering what she thought about it.

''Uh...'' Karei blinked, staring dully at the lettering. She gently rolled the rest of the apple between her palms thoughtfully. ''Not really. I never learned how to read. Well, my parents began to teach me but I forgot everything...'' She replied with a sheepish smile, rubbing the back of her neck with her free hand.

Darhin was shocked, he didn't know, he now felt bad for bringing it up, "I'm sorry, uh, do you want me to read it out loud for you?" He asked. He didn't think Karei would be interested in that sort of thing, but it was only polite to ask.

Kar shook her head, taking another bite of her apple. ''No, it's alright. I always thought that my lessons were boring. Besides, it looks kinda long and I'll get tired of standing her in seconds.'' She smiled, looking around curiously. She caught sight of a painting of a unicorn and blinked curiously. She heard of the legends but never really saw a painting of one. She walked over to it, examining the fine detail as if trying to imprint it in her memory.

He nodded at the answer before seeing her wander off, he followed her and saw that she had her eyes glued on a painting, looking at it he realized it was a unicorn, he laughed, "What is it with you and horses?" He said teasingly, before his face turning serious, "Believe it or not...I could have sworn I saw one once..." He said, memories of that day coming back quickly.

Karei was about to retort his first comment with 'It's not a horse, it's a unicorn! Big difference there, the horn.' But stopped when he spoke again. ''Their myths. The old man used to tell me stories about them. He said they were the most pure beings on earth and only those pure of heart cold ride them. You couldn't of seen one. They're not real.'' She replied, though didn't sound very convincing. She brushed her hand through her hair, rmemebering when she used to daydream about mounting and riding one (and then the old farmer yelling at her to stop 'lolly-gaggin' and to get to work).

"I said I thought I saw one...I'm not sure, I was half unconsious at the time..." By the look on her face, he figured she was fasinated with unicorns, perhaps even daydreamed about them, so he decided to go ahead and tell her what had happened. "It was about four years ago, so two years after I came to Calamere, I was still pretty young, and was out in the streets looking for a job. I started working at this one new shop in the market place, very new, as in they were just starting to make the building. The merchant who owned the shop was taking regular trips to the forest to chop down the trees needed to start building the structure. It required a lot of work, and I was fit enough, so he asked for my help. It was on the fourth trip there, that we were attacked by a small group of bandits, since the building wasn't made yet, the merchant still had his merchandise on him and that was what they were after. I tried to fight, but being young then and weaponless I was very outmatched. I watched as the merchant fell, and I was knocked unconsious not to long afterward. And I could have sworn that before I was knocked out that a horse, with a sharp horn on its head, came rampaging out of the thicket. Whether or not it was a unicorn or just a regular horse I don't know, but the fact still remains that when we woke up, all the bandits were either dead or unconsious and all our valuables were still lying there in the dirt." When he had finished telling the story, he realized that they had wandered off, and decided to look a bit at the other poetry and artwork there.

Karei listened curiously to his story and blinked. She just realized she had finished her apple to the core and tossed it out the window (since I doubt they had trashcans then). ''Well it's not impossible. I know a horse would not randomly attack people and leave two uninjured. As for unicorns...who can say?'' She smiled a bit, looked around at the artworks. She saw many different portraits of kings and then noble knights riding their valiant steeds. She noticed one with a knight clad in white armor battling a black dragon, and another with a young maiden. She couldn't help but scoff at that one. What originality. She thought, noticing how weak and timid the woman was portrayed. She continued to looked through the other paintings curiously, intrigued by the works of art.

Darhin was looking at all the paintings too, seeing the way the work and effort that went into each and every one of them. He had to admit, he couldn't do anything nearly this good even if he wanted to. He suddenly caught sight of a picture, and halted to a complete stop staring at the picture in wonder. It was a portrait of the Amulet. Yes, the very same one he was wearing around his neck. However it was a morbid one. The Amulet was clutched in a single man's hand as layers upon layers of corpse littered the ground, and a huge line of slaves could be seen in the background, carrying immense loads of spoils off the battle field, their pain obvious on their faces, while the man holding the Amulet laughed maniacally. Suddenly Darhin clutched the Amulet tightly, he had to get rid of this thing, give it to the king first thing. He excused himself from Karei, telling her to just look around longer if she wanted to, before darting out the door towards the Castle.

Karei blinked, looking over as Darhin rushed off. She opened her mouth to protest but found she was too late. She looked to see what could have provoked him to run off and saw the portait, too. A slight shudder ran up her spine as she looked at it and shook ehr head. She didn't really understand, but didn't try to at the moment. Kar continued to wander around the building, studying the artwork. After she had seen everything she went outside, sitting down on the steps, waiting for him.
