Brynna crept silently past the Guilds around her, behind looming Pillars and old, fallen rocks, until she reached the Guilad at the far end of the area. Allegedyly abandoned, the Elementers' Guilad was falling down... but deep within it, its members still met, where they would continue to talk and practise their spells... Brynna had not wanted to go home, and so she had come here.
Walking amongst rubble, fallen bricks and smashed artefacts, she made her way to the centre of the guilad. A large door stood in front of her, and she rapped sharply on it with her knuckles three times. An eye hole slid open, and looked her up and down before exclaiming, "Brynna!" and letting her in. "Thanks Harry..." She whispered to the Door Keeper.
Inside, the Elementers had done their best to redothe GUild, and inside was fine furniture and rugs, carpets, food, eveything they could want. Fire Elelmenters had made roaring fires, Wind Elementers had removed msot of the rubble, Water Elementers had caused fountains to spring from the ground, and Earth Elementers had wrought furniture from stone. This was Brynna's haven.
There were few about at such a late hour, and she found herself a quiet corner before practising her magic. Snapping her fingers, she lit a flame. It glew, flickered and danced at her fingertips, and sweeping it around in a circle in front of her, she leftr it burning in the air, a firey hole only extinguishable to water elementers... She elt it burn a while longer, and then released her hold on the magic.
This time she scooped up palmfuls of fire from thin air, throwing them about as if juggling with simple balls in a circus. But these were no balls; these were fire. Her tricks grew more and more complicated until she was swathed in a bed of firey threads, all writhing in a complex pattern about her. Her previously datk corner had been transformed, it burnt so brightly that others were forced to avert her eyes. Brynna smiled, bilssfully happy. Although her gift was more a curse than anything else, she was happiest when using her flames.
She continued to burn in the corner, playing with the bright embers and flames, until she heard another enter the room...

Cien sighed. Her desire battled ferociously against her better judgement. Puru-puru was silent at her command, sitting quietly in her pocket, occupied with a biscuit.
After meeting Kai, she felt a little relieved that she no longer held that fear she once had. But it had, perhaps unfortunately, sparked her curiosity...
her main weakness.
Cien sighed. 'Just this once,' she told herself, 'I'll misuse it, this once, and then I'll make up for this...' Feeling the mind behind the door, she probed gently, and the door as pulled open. Her conscience berated her to no avail for at that moment, walking through the guild, she spotted Lady Brynna.
She is a-!!

Brynna froze in shock as Cien walked in through the door. How did she get in here?! Her arms dropped to her sides and all of the fire disappeared, leaving only thin wisps of smoke trailing from her body. The rest of the elementals in the room all turned to stare at the door, and Brynna was certain that they were all equally as terrified as she was; no stranger had been here before, and Brynna was certain that Cien was not and elemental.
!I... I'm not.. You'er..." She stammered before breaking off. Her heart sank. What would her friend do now? It was unheard of for anyone to accpet an elemental - not even Brynna's own parents knew of her power. She acould not afford for anyone to find out... She only hoped that Cien wouldn't judge her too quickly - they had spoken earlir, maybe, just myabe she would trust her...
She fell to her knees, and just looked at Cien, waiting for her to react...

She could have slapped herself. It was natural for them to react that way, but it was her fault after all, for getting in this way. Even with her powers in check she could feel the strong undertone of fear. 'Why?' she wondered, 'Why is everyone so afraid? We're afraid of them because we fear their power, they are afraid of us because we fear them...is there no end?"
Cien held out her hand to Brynna and smiled. "I'm sorry I scared you. Please get up."

Shaking slightly, Brynna took Cien's hand, hoping her skin wasnt sill hot, and got slowly to her feet. She hadn't expected her to react this way, but then again, she supposed that as long as Cien was the only non-elementer here then she was in no immediate danger. "Thank... Thankyou." she said cautiously. She patted a flame still alight on her hip with her other hand.
"I..." She could think of nothing to say. "Woudl you like a cup of mea?" she finished lamely.

Cien could still feel the fear in Brynna when she took her hand. Sighing inwardly, she reminded herself that most elementals hid themselves for a reason, and would not readily open up to a complete stranger. Still in thought, she missed Brynna's last sentence and nodded dreamily...

Brynna stumbled over to the fireplace, very aware of the piercing gazes of the other elementers. They would not be happy if they thought she had lead Cien here... "Please, take a seat." She mumbled, crashing about with the large metal pot of mead. Pouring out the hot liquid into two wooden mugs, the drink sloshing about in the pot and occassionally crashing over the sides, she took the cups over to two seats in the corner of the room partially hidden from sight.
Gesturing for Cien to join her, she sat nervously down and took a long draught of the mead.

Cien sat and looked apologetically at Brynna. "Am I troubling you? Once again, I'm really sorry. I was very curious about elementals, and I decided to come here to have a look. I knew that I would cause a stir, but I didn't know that you would be here. I'm really very sorry for disturbing you."

"No! No... It's OK..." Brynna said slowly. Wiping her ashen palms on her skirts, she smiled nervously at Cien. "Well... now you're here... I guess all your questions have been answered for you!" Forcing herself to relx a little, she took another long sip of the drink. The hot liquid caled her frazzled nerves a little, and she smiled more warmly at Cien.
"Well... I have to say... you don't seem too afraid... But you have powers too, don't you?"

Cien smiled. "Powers? No, I don't have any powers...only an ability. Everyone has at least one ability, but not everyone has a power. That's why I'm not afraid. It's because there really isn't any need to be."
She stared unblinkingly into the fire. "As for me, what I have may scare people, but only because they cannot hide anything from me. Some people might think that it is a good thing to have, but to know things that other people want to keep secret, like precious memories that only they can value, is not right. So I seal my own abilities...but...I'm sorry, I guess I'm just ranting."

"So... You're a mind-reader? Well, thankyou for not looking too deeply into my mind... I guess every Elemental's biggest fear is that a psychic will find them out." So looked worriedly at Cien, but as her friend promised not to judge her, she smiled and relaxed a little more. She took another sip of the mead.
The sweet drink was nearly cold, so the girl snapped her fingers and held a small flame beneath the cup. "So for both of us then, our blessings are perhaps curses in disguise. Well, everyone has some burden to bear, equally as everyone has different abilities." She paused. "Thank...thankyou for listening to me, anyway. I'm so tired of hiding."

Cien looked away for a moment. "You don't actually have to hide..." she said slowly, before snapping back to attention.
"Excuse me. I was thinking about someone who has similar powers to yours. But...he was fighting in the war. Using his powers to hurt others...it's not what he wanted to do, but he did it in order to gain acceptance."

"Really?" Brynna frowned. She'd thought that most of the elementals had been here at some point or another, but she'd never heard of someone going to war.... she supposed that it was very possible there was someone she'd never spoken to.
"But you... you're only partially right." She said with a slightly sad half-smile. "Here, I can be myself. But I... it wouldn't do to act as if this was normal around everyone else. I'm just happy that I have this place to come to! So... You're really not afraid?"
Brynna was trying desperately hard to stop the overwhelming feeling of joy in her stomach from creeping up into her mind, but it was becoming increasingly difficult as Cien showed no signs of fear. Could it be, could it finally be that she might be accepted..? It was too hard to think about!

Cien smiled and shook her head. "No, I'm not afraid." ((sorry for the short post, I have to rush off ))

((No problem! I'll just ramble on for a bit )) Brynna exhaled, and then leapt up from her seat, her eyes sparking as brightly as as the flames that flickered around her fingertips. "Re-really?" She said, and then smiled widely. She closed her eyes, trembling a little, and then collected herself. Such outbursts were rare for this girl, but she felt liberated. "Come on!" She said, smiling and holding out a hand. "Can I show you around ehre?"

Cien took the offered hand and smiled. "Please. I'm glad I finally get to know an elemental personally."
(Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry... I need to rush off again, my physics lecturer just quit and there are a lot of things to settle, I'll make it up later, kay?)

(I'll continue it since I'm free ) Glancing around her, the first thought that leapt into her mind was that the Guild looked comfortable, but had more to it than met the eye. She was sorely tempted to unleash a large amount of her power, to see what exactly went through the minds of those whose powers had set them apart literally from the rest of the world. Yet her conscience held her back. What they thought, all they had been through, they had a right to keep it to themselves. Another thing that held her back was her distant memory of the time she had set herself free. Strong emotions, so much of it at the same time, had completely overwhelmed her. It had taken a while to muster it, and she didn't feel like doing it any time soon.

"Well, his is the main room," Brynna burbled excitedly, "But there are many other rooms here too! There are kitchens, and bedrooms, so we are virtually self-sufficient! As long as there are supplies coming in, this is a safe haven for anyone who has been ostacised by society." Ignoring the wary and indignant looks the rest of the elementals were giving her, she hoisted up her skirts a little and strode proudly through the Guild. She was so happy... she had a friend! Someone she could freely talk to... Grinning smugly, she spun around and gestured over to two doors on their left of the room. "Those lead up to the bedrooms." She said. "That door leads to the cellar, and the kitchens are through - "
The girl broke off as a large hand clamped on her shoulder. The water-elemental Bryan... "Be careful who you talk to." She breathed heavily into her face, reeking of brandy. "Not everyone will be happy knowing an outsider has heard of us... Your friend had better to be able to protect herself." Grinning leerily at the two girls, he staggered back as Brynna angrily pushed him away. "I have nothing to say to you!" She snapped. She was not willing to listen to this low-life. She had had trouble from him before - different types of elementals often fought amogst themselves - but adrenaline was running high, and she had no time for him this evening. "Come on Cien." She said lowly, and started to walk away...

Cien watched as the man stepped back unsteadily. His aura felt disturbing, and with the already tense atmosphere she didn't want to risk anything. Slipping her hand into her pocket, she nudged Puru-puru. It responded eagerly and crept up her arm, hidden under her cloak, and into her hood.
'Keep a lookout,' she warned to it silently. 'There are too many, and all elementals. I can't fight all of them, and that would be the last thing I want to do.'
She nodded to Lady Brynna and followed her.

"We could go up to the rooftop?" Bryna suggested nervously, throwing a worried glance back at Bryan. "It looked to be a clear night earlier... There'll be a gorgeous view from up there." Twirling a long strand of black-purple hair around her forefinger, she looked curously at Cien. This girl was... different. In all her life the only person who had accepted ehr - and her gift - was her cousin Arikain, and she had always assumed that was because they were related. Still... Cien seemed fearless!
