Cien followed Darhin into the crowded marketplace. The sights and smells intrigued Puru-puru, forcing Cien to shut it securely in her pocket. As 'intellectually inclined' as ever, Cien put on her eyeglass inconspicuosly. Preoccupied, she absently turned to Darhin. "So, what would you like to eat?"

"I don't know. Lets just find a place and see what they have." He caught sight of a small vendor, in the corner of a street. "This seems good enough" He walked over towards it, looking at all the fruit, meat and bakery foods they had for sale. He couldn't decide what to eat. So instead he decided to waited for Cien to chose first, he would just have whatever she picked.

Cien bent down over the fruit and was just about to reach out and pick one when Puru-puru began protesting vehemently. Sighing patiently, Cien took it out of her pocket and grasped it firmly. "Alright. You may choose, but don't run off anywhere. Just sit quietly in my pocket and eat." Puru-puru "nodded" itself with a furry smile before flinging itself head first into a cream bun. Cien glanced at Darhin apologetically. "I'm afraid in terms of food, Puru-puru is usually the master."

Darhin laughed, looking at the strange little creature, "Well I didn't know we have a cook. Go ahead, what do you think is best Puru-Puru?" He laughed as he watched the small pink creature hop in place. He sure was a interesting little thing.

(I am assuming that Darhin hasn't heard about his 'new' brother, so I apologise in advance if I accidentally intrude into your preplanned plot ) Puru-puru inspected the cream bun carefully by opening it's mouth and swallowing it whole. Cien almost groaned as she reached out to grab the obviously satisfied Puru-puru, which was occupied in chewing vigourously. Suddenly, Puru-puru stopped in mid chew. Taking that opportunity, Cien clamped her hand around it firmly and was greeted by a strong wave of disturbace. Her hand froze in place and her eyes widened. What is this feeling? Something...something... the barrier has been broken...someone broke the taboo! How can this be?The feeling seemed to seep into her bones. A deep, dark feeling of wrath and evil...something had been created that should not have been there at all. This is not good...

The Demon flew overhead. His...its wings beating fiercely he looked down towards the ground, and saw its brother, its target. It stayed hidden in the clouds...there was too many people. It had to wait until they were alone...no matter. It could wait...

Cien's vision blurred and her chest tightened. It felt as if she were drowning and she clawed at the inner barrier that was restricting her. But on her mind was only one thought:
Puru-puru
She fought for control, knowing that it would under such circumstances be unable to resist the forces pulling at it. If Cien was sensitive by nature to magic, Puru-puru was at least 20 times more sensitive than she was. And if she felt this way, then Puru-puru-
Forcing her eyes open, she bit her lips till she tasted blood. Her mind cleared almost immediately with the pain and she released her grip on Puru-puru. It seemed lifeless, with closed eyes and no movement. But Cien knew that all was still alright. The bond that exceeded life between her and Puru-puru was still intact, and as long as it was, she could breathe calmly.

Darhin stared at the two of them in shock. What was wrong with her and...his eyes widened when he saw Puru-Puru, he was practically dying, right there. "We should get out of this crowd." He said to her, "Find you two some help." He didn't know what was going on, but he did know that they needed to get out of the streets if they he going to get them help.

Cien cradled Puru-puru gently. "It's alright. We are both fine." She looked at Darhin with mild surprise and began saying, "Didn't you feel anything-" but checked herself in mid-sentence. It should not surprise her if he didn't feel anything out of the ordinary since, after all, he was neither a thought-mage nor a sorceror...but she felt as if he should have in some way felt something...

He did, but it was not from him, but from the Amulet he wore around his neck. It was heating up intensely, beating against his chest. He frowned, as he went to grab the Amulet, lifting it out of his shirt to see what was wrong.

Though Darhin held the Amulet at an angle that no one on the ground could see it. From this vantage point, the Demon could see it clearly. Its eyes glowed intensely, so he had the Amulet with him too? Perfect, killing two birds with one stone. It grin a sadistic grin, revealing its sharp fangs. This should be quick. It flew down to the alley way, hiding in the shadows. Its eyes centered on the pair.

For a fleeting moment, Cien felt the crushing feeling upon her chest again. It was unexplainable, but she suddenly thought that it felt strangely familiar. Turning to Darhin, she commented in a slightly breathless voice, "For some reason, I think now would be a good time to run..."

Darhin frowned, "What do you mean," His heart started beating faster as he looked around, seeing nothing. The Amulet was burning into his skin. Something was wrong, turning his attention towards Cien he said, "Alright, lets get out of here, I know a shortcut to get us by these people quicker." He ran in the direction they came, turning abruptly and going down an alley, he didn't look back so he just assumed Cien was following him. He knew this alley lead into the main streets of Calamere, there they would be safe.

The Demon its eyes locked onto its brother, saw the boy enter a narrow alley. He soared up into the air, across the rooftops, and landed roughly on the ground. Its sharp eyes glared at Darhin as he stepped into view.

Hugging Puru-puru to her chest, Cien pulled herself up. Her legs felt like lead and her vision blurred again. It seemed as if she was just drifting along, neither walking nor running. And stragely, as she followed Darhin, the feeling of danger rose inside her, almost as if...as if they were running towards-
"Darhin-!"

Darhin turned his head aside to look at Cien, when suddenly a searing pain flooded up his shoulder, he flew to the side, and looked up in alarm to see a hideous beast, its skin completely black, long white hair, sharp claws and teeth, and two menacing red eyes. It floated above them on its two long wings. As it rose its hand for another attack on him.

When the boy had been distracted the Demon lunged, extending its claws and cuting deep into his shoulder. It soared up into the air again, looking down at the two. The Demon strecthed out its back legs, long and taut, and dived back down again to attack once more. The boy quickly regain his senses, and dodged out of the way, forcing the Demon to land in the middle of the two. Its sharp eyes now turned to the girl, never remembering seeing her before, but again rose up into the air to attack her.

What is it that makes that beast seem so familiar? I'm certain I have never met any of its kind before, no one that I know has as of yet been reckless enough to try something like this-
Cien pulled Puru-puru closer. It's labored movements told her that something had to be done, and done quickly...
If I die here-
Uncounsciously, Cien undid the seal which she had imposed upon herself, to lock away what she had wanted to hide. It growed around her, a strong, almost impenetrable barrier, further strengthened by her desire to protect Puru-puru, and underneath her, a magic circle burned itself into the ground.
It will not come any closer to Puru-puru, even if I have to kill myself to assure it.

Darhin watched as the beast neared the two, and saw how Puru-Puru suddenly started looking worse. He put two and two together. This thing was affecting them. He shouted out to them, "Cien, get out of here, I'll deal with this thing, find some help!" He drew his sword and lunged at the beast, making a wide arc at its head.

The Demon narrowed its eyes at the girl...she was up to something. But before it could respond, it saw the boy lung at him, sword in hand, it quickly flew to the right, having the sword miss it, but was surprised when he saw a flow of ice, pour out of the boy's hand and hit it firmly in the chest, forcing it backwards. It shakily got up, more angry now then ever, as it glared at the two of them.
