The Bay

[King Thedriol]

A long winding Path leads down to the bay, where the sand meets the waves and there is sure to be fun all around. Raeyn pellet from the sky towards the sea, turning sharply up just as they reach the surf. The sand is warm and golden, and the ocean cool, and the beach is never empty of noise and people.

[Laedra]

Laedra sped down the path, her agile body twisting and weaving in the air as her wings carried her. The white feathery plums glowed gold and red as the setting sun bounced back off them, and her eyes were wide and excited as she neared the beach. Drawing to hover momentarily over a rock before landing gently on top of it, she stood erect, her head up and looking out across the ocean. Her playmate were all swooping and diving in and out of the waters, but she stoood resolutely against the evening wind, staring at the distant speck that was Port Mayya. She wondered if she could fly there.... That would be a feat worth performing.

A friend suddenly leapt at her from behind, wrapping his arms around her wings so she was forced to let him carry her out over the water before depositing her in the ocean.
"Whatcha thinking about?" she grinned as she erupted from the waves. She stared cheekily at him before saying in a silky voice,
"One day I am going to cross the ocean. I'm going to fly to Port Mayya."
Her friend flung his head back with laughter, nearly falling from the air as he gasped for breath.
"You couldn't!" he sneered. "Only elders have ever done that."
"I could!" she retorted, her firey temper ablaze.
"I'd like to see you try."

By now a crowd had gathered, the Raeyn all tittering and laughing. The only time LAedra could escae such a state was when she was angry, and she did so now.
"I will!" she cried, and blushed a brilliant scarlet as her friends only laughed louder. "Just watch me." she growled. Taking a quick glance to make sure one of the elders was not watching her, she spun upwards and made for Port Mayya.
