Dagger-like hoofs struck the earth softly. Smaller doents scurried out of the way as the large Arabian stud trudged along the trail. upon his back was a young woman - far above adulthood yet still of age. Sea-blue orbs gazed around the soft forest. As lively as her appearence was, her eyes appeared warn and tired from a long week of work. The sun had beat down against her hard, simmering her flesh without mercy, even through the garments she wore. Today, however, was different. Dark clouds were concealing the sun, blocking its merciless rays from the young woman and horse. Her head tilted back as she looked up at the sky. It looks like it's going to rain. Sure enough the forest seemed to have been emptied out. Rodents, deer, boars, and birds all scurried back to their homes to protect themselves from the falling water that threatened to spill. The only two beings left were the human girl and the bay stallion. The rain is Mother Nature's way of comforting people. She spills her tears to let us know she cares and wraps her arms around us with the wind. Lullabies were song softly in the air. Karei and Arai did not look for shelter. Both girl and beast continued to walk along the path as the rain began to pour down. A soft smile touched her features as she rode on top of her stag. The rain did soothe her and the life returned in her eyes soon enough.

Darhin wandered through the forest, what he was looking for already found, but unsure of which tree to pick. His boss had amazingly allowed him to stay. Mostly likely because of how hard he worked in the stables, today he had told him to go out to the forest and cut down some trees for firewood. Apparently they were out. With an axe in hand, he went from tree to tree, looking for the oldest of them, one that seemed about to die. He wasn't about to kill a healthy tree. He had more respect for nature than that, must have something to do with the fact he's an elemental.

((ooc: I'm sorry. My computer is being really slow and crappy today v_v))
Chocolate-colored auds pricked foreward as Arai heard the sound of a man wandering through the forest. His head lifted and a soft nicker escaped him. Karei peered through the curtain of rain and saw a human figure ahead. ''Steady, Arai.'' She said soothingly, her hand running up and down his soft neck. Arai snorted and tossed his tresses, still following the path. Kar leaned foreward to avoid the low branches as her gaze remained locked on the male ahead of them. The stud, too, was watching the young man curiously.

(ooc: No problem, my computer does that sometimes too)
Darhin had unfortunately not seen or heard the woman on her steed. Looking around he finally found the tree that was right and lifted his axe to start to chop it down.

Karei halted her horse nearby. Arai seemed restless, pawing at the ground and tossing his head, but the young girl ignored it. ''There's a bird nest in that tree, ya know. And it's still alive. If you chop it down then you'll harm both.'' She said calmly, staring down at him with sea-blue eyes.

Darhin was startled by her appearance, so much that he dropped the axe and it landed roughly in the ground. Looking up he saw that her words were true, and there was a bird's nest, however it was really high up, and he didn't notice it before, she must have very good eyes.
"Sorry, didn't see that," He said as he picked up the axe, "I guess I should find a different tree, I have to get back before my boss gets mad at me. Also theres a horse I still need to atend to." He turned to her, and outstreched his hand, over the the horses head, "My name is Darhin, what's yours?"

Karei smiled slightly, reaching over and gently shaking his hand. ''My name is Karei.'' She replied. She then urged Arai into a walk, moving him to a different tree which was a couple feet away. She pulled her knife from her boot skimming it across the bark. ''This one recently died. I'm sure it is just as good as a live one. And nothing lives in it.'' Kar said, looking over her shoulder at him as she slipped her knife back in her boot.

Darhin smiled, "Thanks for the help," He lifted the axe and swung it at the tree's trunk. Once, twice. It was really an intoxicaticing sound now that he thought of it. Yet it was a sound that lured you to, like there was a rythem behind it.
It was then that Darhin realized that he forgot about Karei, and he did not want to appear to be rude, "So, Karei was it? Where are you from?" He asked as he continued to hack at the tree, it was pretty thick.

Arai snorted as he side-tracked away from Darhin as he began to chop at the trunk of the tree. His auds were pricked foreward and he snorted with slight fear and curiousity. His neck was over-arched slightly as he stared at the boy. Karei rubbed his neck gently, whispering comforts into his ear. She heard Darhin address her and looked up, a half-smile placed upon her lips. ''I'm from the North East, originally. I travel quite a bit.'' She replied simply as she began to watch him work at the trunk. It was indeed a sturdy tree.

"North East? Do you mean Elidwen?" Darhin asked as he continued to chop, finally he heard the snap he was waiting for and shouted to Karei, "You better get out of the way," He stepped aside and watched as the tree wobbled a bit before it started to fall.

''Yes, actually.'' Karei replied. Arai shied to the side as the tree fell. Kar rubbed his shoulder gently, calming him almost instantly. The stag tossed his mane and struck the ground with his daggers. ''I heard you said earlier that there was a horse you tend to. Do you work in a stable?'' She questioned curiously.

Darhin nooded, "I work over at the Silver Drake as a stable boy, I'm actually heading back there now to return this fire wood," He said as he chopped off the branches of the tree, and then started working on the trunk itself, "If you come with me I could take your horse to the stable and attend to it if you want to look around Calamere." He finished the last bit and picked up the wood, holding the pile in his arms. He stood up and looked over at Karei, wondering what her response will be.

Karei blinked in surprise and a smile spread over her features. ''I would like to, but I do not have much money.'' She replied. A hesitation came after her response and she looked back down to him. ''Oh, but I could give payment by assisting you. Or if there is a horse in need of training I would gladly do so.'' She added with another slight smile. Arai snorted again, becoming restless, and pawed the ground.

"Your a horse trainer?" Darhin smiled, this day was getting better, "The horse that I said I was going to be attending is a real wild one, owned by one of those pompous lords who think they can just go out into the wild and get whatever horse they want for free, it knocked out the last stable boy who took care of it. I would really appreciate it if you could help out." He said as they got to the outskirts of the forest, drawing nearer to Calamere.
((ooc: Want to continue this in Calamere?))

((ooc: sure)) Karei smiled, nodding as Arai followed behind him. ''Yes. I would like to train this horse. My only payment would be for Arai to stay in your stable for the night.'' She said, once more rubbing Arai's shoulder lovingly.
