Finding Control

[Ava]

A young girl wondered out onto the plain feild with her horse. She had long blonde wavy hair and her eyes changed to a sparkling blue. Her skin was fair and her rosey colored lips stuck out on her thin face. She went to an area that had less grass tall grass then the other places. Ava found what she was looking for. A plain spot where she can learn to control her power. She dismounted from her daple grey mare and untacked her knowing she was going to stay close. She hid her valuables under the sadle and kept everything close together. She started wondering around finding a few twigs here and there piling them up together. Once she found the right amount she stepped back a bit and sat down. She stared at the twigs long and hard then held out her hand and concintrated on getting a spark. Or something. But nothing happened. She wasn't scared. She wasn't getting whipped by her father. Nothing was happening that would set them off. She side and tried over and over again.

Darhin sat upon Harind, as they wandered though the fields. It was a long day. And he was planning on stopping at the nearest town he saw. He just had to travel a few more miles, perhaps he'll go to Port Mayaa. He always wanted to go there...

He stopped, bringing Harind to a halt. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a young woman, with a very pretty face, sit down staring at a unlit fire. As if she stared long enough it might burst into flame. Nearby her horse stood there, staring at her back. He decided to get off Harinds back. Leaving him behind for a bit, which he was not happy about. As he glared at this stranger, pawing into the ground unhappily. Darhin decided to ignore him, and let the horse cool its temper down. He walked over behind the woman who was staring at the sticks so intently that she did not hear or see his approach.

[Ava]

"Come on......please...." Ava whispered to herself. She stood up and whispered some odd words she had learned hoping to set the fire. Only a little spark came from her fingers. Faye looked at the twigs and then heard someone appraoching. She turned her head and perked her ears forward to see a boy making his way toward Ava. She let out a soft nicker to warn Ava "Shush Faye, let me concintrate." Ava narrowed her eyes even harder at the twigs.

Darhin was curious now. She was staring intensely at the sticks, and he thought she even said some words in some sort of foreign language. He stayed very quiet, looking on the scene with curiousity. He saw the girl's horse nicker beside him, not wanting it to reveal his presense, he slowly petted it, using knowledge and experience from years of being a stable boy. And he got the horse to relax, though its still looked at him suspiciously.

[Ava]

Ava used the same words again and again then started making a fist and then opening her hands quickly. She growled to herself and stomped her foot. "Come on.....do it!" She yelled at herself getting fustrated. Her bright blue eyes grew intense as she stared at the twigs "Light it on fire Ava. Come on." She then said a few more odd words. She managed to get a spark from her fingers and then a slight dust of smoke. But nothing that would help her if in trouble. Faye nipped at the man standing next to her and nudged at him. She nudged at him hard hoping to push him into Ava, she then nipped at his back, trying to get some skin, not really liking him here. She hoped she did what she needed to to get Ava to notice the intruder.

Lit it on fire? Darhin thought as he heard the girl, Ava, say those words, suddenly he felt something nip at his neck, and felt his feet buckle as he landed with a thud behind her, making a loud sound as he did. He got back up, rubbing the back as his neck in embarassment. "Uh...hi. My name is Darhin."

[Ava]

Ava julted up right feeling bits of pain from the whip marks and her hands seemed to let out a long bolt of fire. The twigs caught on fire and a bit of the grass as well. She slammed her hands together to stop the fire and turned hersef around to where she heard someone fall and announce their name. The wind stirred her hair around rapidly as she moved away from him. On the otherside of the fire. She stepped on some of the burning grasses so it wouldn't start a fire on the whole feild. She stopped moving and looked at him in shock. "What do you want?" She looked down at her hand stuck together and slowly opened them making sure that there wasn't anymore fire coming out of her hands. She looked back up at him her blue eyes dancing with fear.

Darhin saw her fear and motioned his hands in a reasurring manner, "I'm not here to hurt you honest, I was wandering with my stallion when I saw you over here, I came just out of curiousity that's all..." He waited to see if she calmed down, he did manage to see the fire that came out of her hands, and figured out she was an elemental. But he didn't want her to know just yet. He wanted her to calm down first, he didn't want to frighten her further.

[Ava]

Ava watched him carefully and then nodded "Alright. My name is Ava." She undid her hands and rubbed them against her dress. She looked around "What happened to your horse?" She asked making her way to the sadle pulling out a small wooden box and opened it getting out a piece of meat and some bread. She placed the meat on a place she had and cooked it over the fire. She got an apple from the box and walked up to Faye. She stood close to her and patted her head holding the apple under her muzzle. Faye nibbled at the apple and Ava turned to look at Darhin.

"Oh, Harind? I left him a bit back, he's fine by himself." He looked behind where he could actually catch a glimpse of Harind, he was still glaring at both the girl and her horse. "He's still very wild, and will only go near me or Karei, no one else." He explained as he turned back to her.

[Ava]

Ava smiled "I know Karei. She helped me with a lot. My wounds and getting stuff from my father." She patted Faye when she finished the apple. She went back to the box and bent down gingerly. She took out another red apple and tossed it to him "For your horse." She walked back to the meat she had cooking on the plate. She flipped it and turned back to him. "How you control him if he is still wild?"

He laughed, "Its difficult to say the least, but yeah I still manage to control him. Once Karei helped him he got much more tame. Only gets stubborn when he mets new people. Speaking of Karei, does she know your an elemental?" He said at last, but in a friendly tone, hoping not to frighten her.

[Ava]

Ava gave a small laugh "Yes she knows. But I don't think I am a true elemental yet. I have work I need to do. Like gain control again of my powers. The whi-" She stopped and looked at him. Did she really need to tell him about her father? The beatings he gave her with a stupid whip? She shook her head to herself "I just lost it thats all..." She pulled out the plate and quickly placed on the ground. She took the meat and put it on some bread and started eating it. "Excuse my rudeness, but I am starving. Do you want anything? I have some more meat you can cook for yourself."

"Thank you," He said as he took the food, he looked at the fire, which was now extiquished and took out some matches he kept in his pocket. He quickly relit it and started burning the food, he looked back at Ava, and watched as she ate to herself, he then said, "You know your going to have to lie about that, there are many people in the world who will want to harm you because of your powers, your best defense is your powers themselves. You say you have trouble controling them, maybe I can help." He offered.

[Ava]

Ava bit into the last bit of her food and looked at him. That started to scare her slightly "People would want to steal my power?" She put away the plate and stared at him. "I don't think you can help me. It was because of what my father did is why my powers are messed up. If I get a chance to just let my back heal maybe they will work. But for now they only work when I am scared." Her eyes questioned him worried that he might be one of the people he talked about.

(( oh oh oh we need to get a plot on that. Where someone is trying to steal her power))

((Yeah, maybe, but I wasn't talking about stealing her powers...though its definitely possible. I was talking about someone harming her because she's an elemental. If you read the Info about elementals you find out that hte majority of the world hates them...))

"Your backs hurt?" he asked, eyes wide. What type of father pysically hurts his daughter? But that doesn't make sense about her powers not working, magic is much more then just a physical trait. It is more mental, it centers on concentration and your use of imagination. So it was not the physical scars that affected her, but her mental ones...which will far out last any scars that will be on her back..."Just give it a try. I am very talent with magic. I can teach you to gain better control of your powers, that way when your healed of what he did to you, you can use them to their fulle extent."

[Ava]

The young girl gave in to his percistance. She nodded and stood up "Ok what do you want me to do..?" As she thought out the question she shook her head "As in power wise." She wanted to trust him but there was part of her she just wanted to run away and not anyone get close to her. But instead she stayed and kept a good distance. She heard a soft nicker and then Faye started trotting away. Ava turned her head and watched her slowly approach the stallion far off. "Faye....be nice and careful. He isn't as friendly as Arai."

Darhin watched as the mare, Faye, approached his horse Harind. He saw the black stallion seem to look at the horse suspeciously as she approached. But he seemed not to mind, must only have problems with people..."Well for starters, I need you to relax, your too tense, you won't be able to do any magic if your that tense, a single sound will startle you enough to make you loose control." He said, remembering the fire that started when fell down next to her.

[Ava]

Ava crossed her arms "I learned to be tense. That was my advirment when i was growing up." She tapped her fingers on her arm and then made a soft sigh "I get scared easily, thats who i am. But i don't get scared of sounds unless they are a sound of a person coming behind me, and maybe with a knife or seomthing." She lifted her head and watched Faye start trotting around Harind. How could she be so loose and open with a random new commer? Her blue eyes turned to Darhin, they were hard and filled with slight fear of him.

"Oh," Darhin sighed, thinking. He noticed the look in her eyes, and realized she still didn't trust him. Maybe if they talked a bit longer then she'll realize he didn't mean her any harm, so he said in his friendliest tone, "It must of been tough, I'm sorry. But you do want to use your powers right? Then we have to make use of what you can and can not do. I guess I should begin. For starters, magic comes from a source of power that resides in everything. Whether a stream, a leaf or a human being. The source is divided into four different elements. Water, Fire, Earth and Air. Besides Elementals, thoughs who preform magic can tap into any one of these Elements and control the things around them. But Elementals, gain control of only one of these elements, but have complete control over it. I'm sure you already know all of this. But its still vital information to know..."
