The sun beat down mercilessly on the plains, no shade visible for miles. A large, bay stallions trudged through the tall grass, led by a young, seventeen year old woman. The girl was looking around the plains, sea-blue eyes scanning the horizon. ''Looks like there isn't another town for miles...'' Karei said, mostly to Arai. No response came from the steed. Both continued to walk along, moving through the grass. A sigh escaped her lips, followed by a snorting-sigh from the beast. ''Alright, we'll make camp. Then maybe we can find some meat...'' She said. Kar led her horse to the base of a hill. She pulled off the bags from Arai's back and set them down on the ground. Once everything was settled in its place, Karei took up her bow and arrow, which she only used for hunting, and mounted Arai without the saddle. As soon as she was placed on his back, arai leaped into an energetic canter, bolting forward. Karei let out a laugh, leaning forward slightly.
It was nightfall when they returned. Three rodents were strung together, hanging over the girl's shoulder. Karei jumped down from Arai's back and sat down on her blanket. She started a small fire and began to skin the rodents with her knife. Arai wandered off, slowly grazing. ''These skins could make useful pouches...I might be able to sell them...and the bones could make some good arrow heads.'' She said aloud to herself, smiling softly as she began to cook the meat over the small fire. Arai came back and she gave him a long drink of water. ''We should find a creek or something to refill the cantene...'' Karei murmered beneath her breath as she set the cantene of water aside and began to eat. She set aside some carrots, apples, and fresh berries for Arai. After sharpening her weapons, she laid down on the fur blanket she had made and slowly fell asleep. Arai continued to graze peacefully, staying close to his mistress.

Cody Evans had been wandering the plains for days now. Dahrin's training was almost complete. But he had to get away he could sense the dark wind blowing. War was immient. He was communing with the spirits of the earth, allowing himself to get lost in his minds eye. He woke with start. Someone else was on the plains. A great beast, and a young girl. He spoke to the sky's spirits. He was then directed in their direction. He walked it had been days since he had seen a person, and so far off from the civilized world. Shifting in his platemail he approached the campsite. His eyes locked with the horse, he had unspoken bond with animals as he nodded politly. He grinned as he spoke to the young girl who hadn't even noticed him. "I am sorry, I don't mean to frighten you. I am Cody Evans, Last Son of the Colossus, what brings you to the plains? And your name milady?" Cody bowed quickly.

Karei bolted upright, turning and looking at the man who had approached. She noticed Arai had once more lowered his head to graze and relaxed. If Arai isn't edgy, then nothing should be wrong. She thought. ''My name is Karei. I'm just passing through.'' She replied, sitting up and crossing her legs. Arai lifted his head a second time and snorted, then walked over to inspect the newcomer further. The stallion stopped next to Karei and stretched his neck out toward the man who had introduced himself as 'Cody'.

Cody gently ran his rough hands over the great beasts neck soothing it with cooing noise. He let his baby blue eyes lock onto the animals eyes as they talked for a minute, he suddenty realized he was the intruder here and did not mean to be rude. "So where might you be from, Karei? That is a lovely name."

''I am from Calamere, originally.'' She replied, wathing her stud curiously. She smirked slightly, reaching up with one hand and stroking Arai's shoulder softly. ''You seem to have a way with him.'' She complimented with an approving nod. Arai bobbed his head a bit, snorting, and turned his neck to nip at her tunic gently. Kar laughed softly, pushing his muzle away. ''Ok, ok, I'm up.'' She murmered to her horse, grabbing his mane gently as she pulled herself up.

Cody smiled, the fire casting shadows across his face. He brushed his white hair out of his eyes. "Colossus have a special bond with mother earth and her creature's. This one though is very charismatic, he likes to talk." Cody chuckled, he watched her stand beside her great stead. "Its a good idead to be careful dangerous things are laying in wait on the plains. Just the other day I encountered a Undead beast while out here with a friend."

Karei gently leaned against the horse, watching as he lowered his head and began to pick up at the grass. ''Yes, he is the talkative one.'' She said with a smirk, carressing his neck gently. ''An undead beast? That is odd. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for such a creature.'' Kar replied, a curious tone in her voice. She rested her head against Arai's whithers.

Cody stood next to Arai as he looked down into her eyes. He caught himself losing himself in her deep blue eyes. He let his eyes wander over to the fire, its spirits rising into the sky and dancing around the campsite. He smiled as the wind blew as the fire threw some cinders into the air. The stars were shining bright in the sky, yet he couldn't shake that feeling. The war was coming. He turned back to Karei. "So where did you learn to wield those two blades?" Her aura was one of strength and kindness. He sensed she had seen combat before.

Karei blinked curiously when he looked over at the fire, temporary confusion in her mind. She shoo it off almost immediantly and combed her fingers through Arai's ebony mane. ''I taught myself, mostly. Occasionally some swordsm...well, swordswomen gave me tips.'' She replied, looking down to where her swords lay, propped up and ready for easy access.

Cody gazed amazed at the craftsmenship that went into each blade. He noticed the intricate detail from the hilt to its edge. "They are beautiful. So how long do you plan to wander the plains?" Cody asked cursiously, brushing aside some of his white hair.

''Until we reach the next town.'' Karei replied with a sheepish smile. Arai began to walk forward and she lost her balance, falling to the soft ground with a plop. ''Arai!'' She snapped, throwing a clunk of dirt at his flank. The bay snorted, turning and lowering his nose to her, nudging her playfully. ''Rotten, spoiled, baby.'' She murmered, apparently unable to stay angry at the creature.

Cody watched the girl she also seemed to have a unique bond with her stead. "Which town are you headed too? I might just meet you there."

''I'm not really sure. Whatever town comes to view first.'' Karei replied, lightly playing with Arai. ''What about you? Are you looking for a place to make camp?'' She asked, partly ignoring Arai as he tugged at her tunic sleeve. Absently she continued to playfully push his muzzle lightly.

"Yes, I am. I have been wandering for three days now. I was out communing with mother earth. The spirits here are restless and playfull. Very much like your Arai." He grinned as he sat down on a rock. The wind blew through his hair, the night was warm.

''You are welcome to stay the night here. It does often get too quiet out at night.'' Arai let out a disapproving snort and his head shot up. Kar blinked in surprise, curious by his manner. ''Oh, come now Arai. Don't act like that.'' Karei said with a light laugh. She paused, then glanced back at Cody. ''You can communicate with him, right? And understand what he says?'' She asked with curiousity. Arai nudged her curiously, as if asking her what she was doing.

Cody eyed the horse as it gave him a vengeful glance. He quickly snorted and the horse turned nudging Karei hard in the hip. Cody laughed out loud as he run his hands through his hair. "Yes we can comminucate. He doens't like the idea of me being here. He doens't mind me so much, its just that..." he listen as Arai locked eyes with him. " he doesn't want to share what he likes to call his time with you, with me. He seems to have adoscelent crush on you Karei." Cody grinned as snorted something to Arai.

Karei laughed slightly, nudging Arai slightly. ''He's such a big baby. I've been with him since birth.'' She smiled softly, playing the the stud's black forelock. ''Can you ask him something for me? As much as I ask him, I can never really understand an answer. If he gives one.'' She said with a soft chuckle. Arai settled his head against her chest, appearing very much like an infant stallion now. Kar chuckled again and wrapped her arms around his head, one arm under his jaw, the other looped around his muzzle from the top.

Cody grinned, shifting in his plate mail armour. "Sure, I will ask him anything you want, under one condition. Can I have a apple I am starving." Cody chuckled a smile crossing his tattooed face.

Karei let out a laugh. She pulled out a small sack from her saddle bags and pulled out some fruit, which was set in preservatory herbs. ''Her, we've got plenty.'' She said, handing him the fruit. Arai looked at the food eagerly, apparently expecting it to be his. He stepped forward, but a sharp blow to the chest stopped him. ''No. You had your dinner.'' Karei said firmly. Arai snorted then grazed lazily. Kar rolled her eyes and looked back over at Cody. ''Well...could you ask him why he chose me over his birth mother?''

Cody took a bite of his apple. He was hungry hadn't eaten in three days. He let his baby blue eyes lock with Arai's. He smiled as the reason was explained. Arai walked over and began to nudge Cody running its snout along his face. Cody laughed a hearty laugh, he stared across the fire gazing into Karei's deep blue eyes. He lifted his chest plate mail as he lay in the cotton shirt he wore underneath. "He says it wasn't a choice it was just nature. At the time your aura told him you would be a safer bet then his own mother. He sensed kindness, gentless, beauty. He wanted to be around that. Just like probably many others do." Cody stated as he leaned on his elbow.
