Karei glared at the man as he went off and growled under her breath, muttering slightly. She turned to a customer, smiling sweetly as shesold him what he wanted and put the coins away. She glanced back, watching Darhin clean, and continued to serve the customers. After a break she thumped ehr head on ehr arm, feeling very restless. ''I'm gonna chekc on Arai quickly.'' She told Darhin, hurrying outside. She noticed that Arai was barely awake and smirked, rubbing his neck She check her bags, making sure shad had everything, and then headed back inside. Kar turned to another customer as she entered and continued with her work.

Darhin continued to sweep, and every once in a while came to sort out the crowd, telling them to get back in line and the such. He saw Karei taking the coins and searching through the shelves for an item, at least she knew where to check, he wouldn't even know where to start, its really a lucky thing he got cleaning duty, its very similiar to his acutal job. He saw Karei go out, and he dropped his brom to go to the counter. He talked politely to the customer, smiling and such, inside he felt slighty trapped by seeing so many people about. But he managed it well, only he stumbled a bit finding the item they were purchasing, the shopkeeper helped him out there though. The day was passing quickly and already there were fewer people.

Karei tapped her foot gently against the floor, drumming her fingers on the counter as Darhin talked to the last customer. She had none to talk to, and as of yet the shopkeeper has not told ehr to do anything else. But she felt so restless. She wanted to go and do something that would require actual work. In her mind, talking to people and handing them items while taking their money wasn't much of any work. She was used to training horses, working them, carrying heavy loads, and the such. Things that might tire her out rather than bore her. Impatiently, she began to nibble on the corner of her bottom lip, glancing back at the shopkeeper and then to Darhin.

Darhin caught her look, and whispered, "Its alright, were almost done, here's the last customer now," It was a tall man, with dark clothing, and a hood that covered his face. Something about him was just not right. Darhin could feel it. Not right at all.
He ignored both Karei and Darhin and walked straight towards the storekeeper, when seeing him the man said "Hello, welcome to my humble abode, what may I do for you?" The man leaned over and started whispering something into his ear, the man's eyes widened, "I don't have anything like that!" He seemed shocked, but more so Darhin could tell he looked uneasy.
"Yes, you do" the man said, his voice deep, "bring it out here, its in that drawer over there" he said pointing, suddenly Darhin knew the man standing in front of them was a mind-mage. Fear reared up in him as Darhin brought up his mind shield immediately.
The storekeeper, very shocked now, went over to the drawer and pulled out a small talisman, but it was no ordinary necklace. That Darhin could tell, it was magical, and sent off a bright aura around it. Darhin's back stiffened as he watched the stranger pick up the talisman.
The storekeeper, seemed shocked too, however kept his face calmed, "Now that will be...Wait! Stop!" But he was to late, and watched as the man disappeared around the corner. The thief had gotten away.

Karei watched the happening-ons. Her expression showed curiousity and slight confusion. She knew something odd was going on, but didn't know what. She turned to see if Darhin knew, and noticed that he seemed very stiff and pale. ''Darhin?'' Kar blinked and walked up to him, placing one of her calloused hands on his shoulder. ''What's wrong?''

Darhin heard her, but did not reply, he then watched as the man ran off. The necklace clutched tightly in his hands. The shopkeeper suddenly stood up and raced after him. Not knowing what else to do Darhin chased after him. Suspecting, though not knowing, that Karei was following. He entered into a large open area, where the shopkeeper was slumped against a wall. He was staring in all directions, as though confused. "Where did he go." Darhin asked when he saw him. The man continued to looked wildly about.
"I don't know, something just rose from the ground and slammed across me head, I didn't see where he went." Telekinsis, the mind-sage was a powerful one, Darhin streghtened his mind shield, hoping it could stand. He felt a sudden tug and looked to see the shopkeeper pulling his tunic, "What he stole was valuable, very valuable, I will be ruined if I do not have it back, you must help me!"

Karei skidded to a stop, just in time to hear their conversation. She stopped, looking around, then lowered herself to the ground. She noticed the footsteps that had come fromt he shop, neither of which seemed to be Darhin's or the shopkeepers, and turned to the left. ''That way.'' She said firmly, nodding to the road to the left. Arai was behind her, apparently having to untied himself. She didn't mind. Actaully, she liked it better that he was near. She mounted him quickly and nodded to Darhin. ''Get on. We'll reach the man faster with Arai.''

Darhin nodded and climbed on behind her, as they were gallopping he warned her of the man's abilities, "He's a mind-mage, thats how he knew the man had that item he was looking for, also he distracted the shopkeeper by hitting him with some object. He must of used telekinsis, he's strong, we can't attack him outright and provoke his magic." The hoofbeats thundered through the dirt road as they chased the man.

''I've dealt with a mind mage once. The key is close-contact ane relentless attacks. Don't give them time to think or track your own thoughts.'' Karei said, then grimaced slightly. ''I wish I had been told that before I battled that first mage.'' She murmered, more to herself than to him. Seeing the black figure she leaned forward lightly. ''Hold on.'' She ordered, driving her calves into Arai's side and pushing him forward. With a lunge he galloped faster, closing in on the man quickly.

Darhin nodded, storing that bit of information for later, looking ahead he saw the man sneaking into a back alley, "There he is!" He shouted pointing, however the man heard him too. Turning he saw the charging horse and was not afraid in the slightest. Lifting his hand a large crate to the left of them suddenly lifted off the ground and was sent flying towards them.

Kar pushed her leg against Arai's side, turning him sharply. The crate flew past and she dismounted quickly, unsheathing her swords. Quick as she could, she regained her balance and rushed toward the man, turning her blades at him swiftly. He dodged with seeming ease, probably predicting her movements, and she turned to counter quickly. Hai after Hei and then Hai again, she continued to attack in an attempt to throw him off gaurd. She could hear Arai cantering towards them with Darhin still on his back and was surprised that Arai was throwing another bucking-fit.

The moment Karei left Arai started bucking him, he wanted Darhin off. Expecting it this time, he let go of the horse and was sent flying backwards, as he was almost hit the gound he created a thin layer of ice underneath his boots so he landed on his feet, stuck firmly in place. Disconnecting the spell, and feeling the ice crack underneath. He took out his sword and charged at the man, he swung fast, and the man just had time to dodge out of the way, just in time to be in Karei's range of attack. He circled around the other side, to attack him on the opposite flank. Bringing his sword up he silently coded it with a think layer of ice, strengthening it slightly. He glared at the man, who appeared to be nimble as well as skill in the arts of magic. He would stop this thief.

Karei was about to continue her attack when she noticed something strange about Darhin's blade. Ice? She wondered. She then felt something smash into her side and tumbled to the ground. Quickly she rolled out of the way as another crate landed where she had been. Sea-blue eyes shot up to where Darhin and the man were. She noticed Darhin had the upper hand at the moment and quickly rushed over to help.

Darhin slashed at the man, and watched as he dodged out of the way. Spinning around he backhanded him with the side of his fist, thowing him off balance. He brought his blade above his head and slashed in a large arc to decapitate the man, however he was to fast and ducked out of the way, having the blade cut slightly against the man's arm. Suddenly he felt a assualt against his mind, rearing up his mind shield he reeled back at the force, so strong and intense it was, focusing with all his might. He slowly staggered back as he repelled the thief's mind away from his, successing but barely. The man was so shocked that he stood there for a few valuable moments, at which time Darhin saw Karei running at him with her swords held tight.

Karei wasted no time. One blade slid through the man's torso and the other snapped through his neck. She stopped, turning. For a moment it seemed the man would do something else, but then he just fell. Kar inhaled slightly, slumping down tot he ground and catching ehr breath. For the moment, she had forgotten about seeing the ice around Darhin's blade. For the moment.

Darhin let his sword drop in his grip, letting the ice covering dissapear into mist. Karei didn't notice this so consentrated on the man. When he finally fell to the ground, Darhin stepped up to her. "Nice moves." He muttered. But suddenly fell silent again staring at the what he assumed was a corpse, which was now standing up again, as good as could be. "Your suppose to be dead..." He said, eyes wide.
The man laughed, "No not dead, mortaly wounded yes, but not dead, but I'm perfectly fine now, thanks to this little trinket." He said holding up the stolen necklace. "I underestimated you two, but I won't do that anymore. It's time to unless the full power of the Amulet of Daniecis!" A glow surrounded the neclace as light filled the alleyway, rasing a hand he muttered incomprhencable words, and Darhin felt himself sent flying across the room slamming against a back wall. Blood covering the side of his face. Trying to stand up he saw the man turn away from him and head toward Karei.

Karei grunted as she rose to her feet, swiftly moving to meet the man. She swung one blade at his hand, the one holding the amulet, and one blade at his torso. The man dodged and she stumbled at the unexpected movement, then whirled around to face him. The next thing she knew she was back on the ground. She moved onto her feet again, holding her swords up in a defensive position. She noticed that the man had turned away from her and was now facing Darhin. She quickly lunged forward, stiking one blade through the man's chest. She pushed it through to the hilt and leaned forward, her arm swiping for the amulet quickly.

Unfortunately for Karei that was when Darhin decided to attack, getting back up he charged at the man, swing his sword, the man looked at him and jumped to the side, the sword in him cutting him more as it went out. And with no opponent there Darhin continued to move hitting Karei roughly. Scrambling back up he saw that the man was standing in front of them once more the hole in his chest completely healed. He rose his hand toward the crate he had sent to them earlier and he watched as it was seperated into smaller peices. All of the peices levitated in the air, four in all, and sent hurdling at them. Not wasting any time Darhin charged at the boxes, dodging one and cleaving the other one in half, he continued his assault heading straight toward the man sword slashing downwards at him, cutting him deeply in the shoulder. He jumped back and considered his next move.

Karei grimaced and quickly moved out of the way of the pieces. She whistled for Arai and as the horse cantered up, she mounted him quickly and galloped toward the man. She noticed he was occupied with Darhin, so she took the chance and swung her blade at his hand, this time succeeding. The hand holding the amulet was lopped off and fell to the ground. She rounded Arai around and swiftly turned her blade to the man's neck in hopes of decapitating him.

Darhin saw the hand fall, and quickly disengagded and ran for it, picking it up, and pocketing the amulet all in one move. Turning to the man, he saw him get out of the way of the slice, and just in time to be attacked from the side by Darhin. Collasped against the ground the man glared at them with a anger so fierce that Darhin thought the entire alley would be set ablaze. Determined to end this, darhin rushed at him sword in hand, and tried to swing down at him, but at the last second stopped his sword howering inches above the man's face. He suddenly knew what was happening, the man was using telekinisis on him!
At that moment a foreign thought flooded into his mind, and he had neither the strenght nor the ablity to block it.
Kill the girl.
To his horror Darhin found himself obeying. Turning around he looked at a shocked Karei and charged at her.
